A Summer Holiday to Turkey

We arrived late in the evening and after picking up our hire car hit the road for a trip of a lifetime.  Our first 7 days were spent at the most beautiful traditional villa situated in Kayakoy Mugla. The location was more then perfect as we were only a 15-minute drive to Oludeniz main beach which meant we could spend our time doing busy touristy things and then come back and relax in the haven of our surroundings with peace and quiet.

The villa had its own private pool so late-night swims in the Turkish heat were a real delight. Whilst in Kayakoy we took advantage of enjoying a boat trip to six islands and butterfly valley, full day jeep safari which included loads of water guns fights between jeeps which the kids loved, visit to Saklikent with river rafting, visiting waterfalls, mud bathing and pancakes and then a scenic route back home.  We also enjoyed dining at various places within small towns in our surrounding area and soaking in the history and found a gem of a private beach in Kidrak 3 mins from Olundeniz.

After the calm of our villa, we headed to Fethiye for 3 nights at a 5-star boutique hotel before heading home. This was in itself a complete contrast of Kayakoy but we really enjoyed the hustle and bustle of local markets and the vibe of night life within the town. The hotel had a yacht which chartered guest to and from a private island during the day, so this allowed us a break from the noise and enjoyment of spoils in clear water.

We will visit Türkiye again and we are currently planning a 10-day private chartered cruise along the coast – I believe this will allow us to experience even more of what Türkiye has to offer. We really loved our time there.
